Banjo #2.
About 12 years ago I built the first banjo. This one's a little different. It has a figured maple neck with an ebony fingerboard and bwb headplate, simple diamond inlay and no radius on the fretboard. The scale length is 26.5". The rim is made with the "stacked block" method, approx. 60 or so little maple bricks, all cut to fit each other, then turned into rings. The 3 layers are stacked like a sandwich and then a solid viola side set was bent to cover the outer perimeter and a maple veneer on the inside as well. It has a machined brass nickel plated 18 hole tone ring, 24 lugs and a nice ebony cap on the back of it. It's made to be just like a 5 string bluegrass banjo without the 5th string and without the resonator. A resonator could always be fitted at a later date. Here are some photos: Starting at $1950
