The Hamm-tone HD-21
This guitar boasts a top grade Adirondack spruce top, exotic rosewood back and sides and black wood fibre binding. The neck is mahogany with a jet black ebony fretboard that features mother of pearl diamond marker inlays. The bridge is also ebony with a vintage through-saddle design and boxwood pins at 2&1/8" spacing. The forward shifted scalloped x braces are of tight quarter sawn Sitka spruce, while the rest of the braces are of Adirondack. It has a compensated 1.65" wide bone nut, bound headstock and vintage Kluson style tuning machines. The soundhole is enlarged, reminiscent of the Clarence White/Tony Rice HD-28, but keeps the spruce on the inner circle to maintaince strength. The soundboard is domed at 22', the sides are solid wood, like I always do, but laminated with 3 interior veneers to increase rigidity and help aid the back's acoustic/sympathetic response. The finish is .006-.007" thick on average and of UV cured polyester.
It has the classic dreadnought tone, but is more balanced and has more focused projection, which makes it an exceptional guitar for both recording and live performance into a condenser microphone. The action is set at 5/64" at the treble side and 7/64" at the bass side at the 12th fret.
This is a very serious guitar for a very serious guitarist. If you own a Martin, beware!
